CASEAN T-TOSMilestone 1 / Phase 1A walkthrough

Milestone 1 · Phase 1A

CASEAN T-TOS: a guided way to agree terms

Walkthrough of the Phase 1A package. Canada to ASEAN agrifood. Interactive prototype with sample data.

Presenter notes: ~5 to 7 minutes of live demo (after the Assist principles slide). Everything else is context. Package index: docs/milestone-1/README.md

The problem

Deals live in WhatsApp. The forms nobody opens do not.

The risk is not missing features. It is delivering a form zoo that buyers and suppliers walk away from.

What happens today

  • Price, volume and terms are agreed in chat and email
  • Details go missing or get re-typed
  • CASEAN sees none of it until something goes wrong

The anti-pattern we avoid

  • Many empty advanced screens
  • Mandatory early fields (freight, HS, vessel)
  • Workflows that only work once all the data exists

Test: if a normal buyer or seller would bounce back to WhatsApp, the product is too complex.

Principles · IA D11 / D12 · ADR-0006 / ADR-0007

Guide first. AI second. Sparse by default.

1 · Guide first (D11)

One next best action beats a dashboard of equal tabs. Home and Deal Overview show one primary button and a short stage checklist.

2 · AI second (D12, ADR-0006)

The assistant drafts and explains. A person accepts. It never signs or locks. A confirmed price/Incoterm moves INQUIRY→NEGOTIATING like a manual edit — Assist never advances milestones by itself.

3 · Sparse by default (ADR-0007)

Price, Incoterm, vessel and containers can stay [PENDING]. We do not invent fields that a forwarder or broker owns.

Valid exits at any blocker

Complete the step, mark it PENDING, or Ask CASEAN.

What you are accepting

Milestone 1 is one short path

RFQ → supplier response → agreed terms (TERMS_AGREED). We stop there.

In acceptance

  • Guided RFQ → terms → TERMS_AGREED
  • Ask CASEAN at any blocker
  • Sparse data: price optional on a response
  • HITL Assist (concept): paste terms, review, accept

Out of acceptance

  • Landed Cost calculator (Phase 1C)
  • HS code and freight theatre
  • Full dossier admin
  • Trade Sheet lock as a required step

Success test: a new buyer reaches TERMS_AGREED without opening Landed Cost, Dossier admin or Reference Data, and without filling vessel, HS or freight.

Assist · concept, scripted, no LLM · before the live demo

The assistant proposes. A person decides.

Allowed (propose, then Accept)

  • "What should I do next?"
  • Draft terms from a pasted chat or email
  • Plain-language Incoterm explainers

Not allowed early

  • Auto-sign or auto-lock
  • Inventing freight, duty, HS or insurance numbers
  • Silent tier changes; Assist never advances a milestone by itself (a confirmed price/Incoterm moves INQUIRY→NEGOTIATING like a manual edit)

Every draft is labelled PROPOSED / AI draft. Accept asks for confirmation and writes an Activity line. Dismiss changes nothing.

Live demo · about 5–7 minutes · full checklist in walkthrough-script.md

Concierge · one slide

Ask CASEAN is a first-class action

"I don't know" is a valid answer, not a failure.

Ask CASEAN

  • Available at every blocker on the Deal Overview
  • Logged on Activity (prototype writes a stub; no real queue yet)

Proxy mode

  • CASEAN support can act on behalf of an organisation, with a reason
  • Amber banner; every proxy write is stamped and visible to both sides
  • Concierge never accepts terms, signs, locks, or confirms SETTLED (D2)

Optional peek · only if asked

Landed Cost and Trade Sheet: concept labels only

These are not part of the demo and not required for acceptance. Both are Phase 1C.

If you open them, return to the Overview straight after. Do not freeze, sign or lock.
